Crystal - 05/08 Bonus Last Saturday POW! was created by ddk
Ski Short Report - BIG Pow morning (for at least and hour anyway), cold early, light early crowd, enough sun for good vis, boot top deep very nice cold snow (didnt last long on the cold part), wished I'd brought the Coombas but the EXP's worked fine (just a little more of a workout for me as the morning progressed). Great last Pow day of the season.
Ski Wordy Report - Arrived a little later than planed, but still got first CHex chair with what I think is one of the top Crystal skiers - nice. Pow boot deep everywhere and with the light early crowd lots of repeat lines available - GV Bowl, Memorial very repeatable from Upper Ferks! Anywhere nobody had been and lots of hoots and hollering around the mountain. But as typical with the hot spring sun most southern facing slopes got pretty manked up early (as noted I wished I'd brought the Coombas). Was expecting boiler plate marginal groomers, but since yesterday was so cold the grooming was very nice where it was done. Did a couple mid morning FQex groomer runs for #1 (shoulda gone!) which were very nice. Quit kinda early with tired quads from hiking this last week and cause it was really starting to fuzz up on the weather and kinda cool from the up Valley winds, plus the crowd was showing up late as usual. Great morning, not long enough, hopefully more tomorrow of "real" spring (sorry Mom-n-law).
Other - Mostly pleasant drive up and down, no Elk noticed. Lots of folks heading up as I was leaving. Pay lot full of both pay folks and open end of season lower A lot, B looked at least 2/3, C pushing full as was D lot. So a fair number of folks showed up today. No real lift lines noticed. Great morning, Great season, one more day!

Ok ddk,
I see where you wrote boot top pow twice? Boot top = 9-11 inches?
I hiked up to the top of the ridge on the Norse peak side (East peak side) with
my lab pup and I never encountered more than 4-5 inches.
I guess it does snow more on the west side. There were a lot of people at Crystal, A lot full, B lot 2/3 full, C lot full.
We had to wait probably a couple minutes just to cross the Blvd at 7:15 there were so many cars.
It was full on winter early, mid 20s. My pup is 11 today, months that is. Glad you had a good day.
Great season!!! Who was the mystery skier you rode with?

If you are going up tomorrow I would expect frozen glop off piste early and just glop later if it softens. The groomers available will be Green Valley environs, lower Snorting Elk, Lucky Shot, and Forest Queen. Where there were some pretty good lift lines mid morning in Green Valley. Forest Queen had lines all day but the singles line seem to go a bit faster. REX line was mostly pretty good. The gondola had a line pretty much all day. The lower lucky shot steep was getting pretty scraped off and was down to pile skiing. Upper lucky shot was holding up well. The Forest Queen runs were good and should be fine tomorrow.
The morning Pow was just grand. Visibility was pretty good most of the day but it got a bit flat again towards 1:30 and beyond.
