Ski Report - Very nice morning, light early crowd. Big sun, firm groomers, PB and GV Bowl nice snow and bumps that are getting bigger. Junior Free Ride in full force up
on the Throne. No lift lines early, but the 10am hour had some fair lines on REX and FQex. Spring snow was showing up on some wind protected slopes. East winds started
blowing today.
Other - Pay lot 3/4 full with two buses, B and C both getting pretty full, D and E both full. Drive up and down very pleasant.

Now for the report for the rest of the day. The lines on REX today were artifically created by the chair breaking down not once, but twice. Before Crystal does any more expansion, they need to replace that chair with a Doppelmayr 6-pack. It's the one consistent bottleneck on the mountain once everyone has uploaded. Also, the "east" winds were mostly from the south according to the NWAC weather station, but they were weird. In your face going up the chair and in your face going down Ferkberg, so a lot of swirling. But, they let up just before noon and it got warm except for the ridgetop. That opened the door for some nice frontsides. Where it had been skiied the most is where it was the best. Some of the aspects were a bit unconsolidated. Our one foray up to Powder Bowl in the morning was very nice the top third, but got pretty firm and chunked the farther down you got. Probably better when the afternoon warmth hit, but we didn't get back that way.
And, one weird thing. #1 and I both hit a rock somewhere. I thought that would be impossible with the monster snow pack, but since it was the first time up on the skis since getting the bases ground, I should have known. And, #1 didn't hit a rock once with the thin snow pack at Big Sky a couple weeks ago, but got one today. A big mystery where that happened.
OK, any questions, there will be a third report posted soon.

I think CD got it all.
Wind wasn’t friendly to early softening up high.
Tuesday skiers didn’t smooth anything.
Most aspects needed some skiing to smooth and break up the crunch.
Lower Frontside and The Gap had the best snow, until, windblown ice filled in Valley Right.
Rex needs to be replaced.
ddk need to recalibrate his compass.
I need to dress cooler tomorrow.
My skis might need wax, didn’t hit any rocks.
People that can’t drive down at the speed limit when it’s sunny and dry suck.

Gotta say Mr CD nice report, wish I wasn't such a wimpy short day skier....but been thinkin about the suggestion for a six pack REX replacement...REX is the oldest high speed quad in Washington - needs to get replaced, but a 6 pack chair is way over the normal need for most "normal" times (other than the current covid crap)...previous owners talked about that in their long term plans, but there is not enough space at the top for a 6pack next to a 8 pack bucket lift (can you imagine the cluster crowd on top? its already painful sometimes)....Original plan was for the old new REX to terminate well below the current location....great for Sunnyside, but not so good to get anywhere else on the upper mountain....Suggestion - replace QSS and NW with higher capacity chairs and get a covid shot! That would really help the lift line problems this season and it has been a great season (and hopefully a great "sunny" spring).. ps we got our first covid shots that afternoon - yee haa!

After reflection, I agree with you. The front side on a powder day gets skiied out way too fast and on any day of the week, Lucky Shot is crowded. No more uphill capacity needed. Just a dependable express 4-seater that can run full speed when the winds are gusting to 40mph. And, I'm one of the lucky ones that's fully vaccinated.
