Ski report - Nice day, early arrival to a casual CHex line up. Got First chair minus 1 for the second time this season - Yee Haa. Snow quality great on the groomers I did (LS and MIFB), off piste GV Bowl a little bouncy early, but as the brain and legs woke up it got Hamster good. Best - PB/BP 's worth three repeats during the 9:30+ hour. Off piste on the southern slopes early was not doable - maybe okay after the big sun heat...and it did get very warm so snow quality will be even more entertaining tomorrow. Light crowd, no lift lines noticed - finally the season is mostly over for folks (until the next big pow day - heard last Friday was a total nightmare). Fun day, beat my quads up royal, quit a little early to save some leg for skiing with #1 tomorrow and I didn't have my spring skiing gear. Snow pack is massive!
Other - Pay lot was maybe 2/3's, B same and C pushing full and that was the crowd today. Drive up early very pleasant, as was the drive down to early.

Smallest morning line of the year, other than the 10 people that were standing there for ½ hour or more. Late opening because…..Why? But, north facing snow was excellent packed pow. Iceberg was smooth, firm, and degraded quickly as the day went on. No worries as we kept off the groomers and to the soft snow or skied out sunny slopes.
Aspects that the huge weekend crowd ignored were thick and lumpy. Skied out areas softened quickly, took some authority, and delivered well deserved smiles. Almost didn’t head up to Powder Bowl after seeing the first red-coat skier hunt and pick their way down. Expecting punishment, pleasantly surprised that PB Main Chute held the best snow on the mountain, although, Valley Bowl was a near tie. By 10:00, the skier packed areas of the Frontside took some leg power and were really fun. Outer Ferk’s was great packed pow even though Bear Pits was rutted firmness. Lower E on some T2Bs was the best it’s been in… awhile.
It will be some dues to pay in the mornings or without heat (and some skier grooming) till the next Big Dump. By 1:00 the re-freeze was in progress and the forecast looks like some cool mornings coming. First on the lift isn’t going to be a bonus for a few days at least. ps - Northway and Southback closed all day although I’d say, nothing good out there anyway.

One small point of clarification. Chinook opened at 8:45, still 15 minutes before the official opening time. We have just been lulled into an expectation of an 8:30 opening. I think the lack of evidence of any patrol work also added to the head scratching as to why they weren't loading the lifts.
A really great day in the sun with no lines what-so-ever.
