Crystal - 02/17

Short Report - Early conditions way better than yesterday.  Relatively early open of CHex with a lot smaller crowd, REX running from the start, #1 skied big from the start on REX. Snow quality very fun, packed pow with some new to make things happy.  Groomers off of REX very nice,  GV Bowl and LS bumps made me happy when I did them.  Best - PB/BP's  for a couple of laps, would have done that more if not for the FQex lineup which was weekend nasty.  No line on CH 6 (if I'd been solo I would have been lapping most of Campbell Basin).  Some lines during the late morning rush.  Snow pack is deep and sweet.  Great day with lots of sun, mild temps, great snow - just a few two many folks for a weekday

Other - Got #1 into CB lodge for a rest break, but the chili is to spicy for her, I  did a PB/BP lap and then met her for a very nice peperoni pizza  slice.   We still ended up quitting a little to early.  

Other other - Pay lot  fuller than I've seen it this season, maybe 95%, if they keep selling weekday parking passes it might get challenging to find a space - even today late arrivals for doing A lot laps to find a space from early folks leaving.   B, C, D, E, H all full to the max with lots of cars in the F lot and more folks showing up all the time.   Drive up and down was very happy at speed - except for the BLVD this morning when we followed a Crystal truck  up at 25mph (or less).    

Good snow at starting time and short lines. But, it took a little while to get my brain out of Montana snow mode and into a little heavier new snow and steeper runs. Frontsides early were the call, M-World to the Doors. Powder Bowl to The Pit was excellent. And then the lines grew longer with kids and families on Ski Break 2021. Wound around governed by line size, mostly Green Valley and even some old school Rinky-Dink aspects. North Facers stayed excellent, south/east facers grew heavy and thick in the on/off sun. A couple T2Bs found the only ice of the day on Lower E (after untracked Berry Patch) and Lower Bull Run. No groomers involved today other than Rex to FQ for a long line.And that one old red pickup heading up 410 at 45mph holding up miles of traffic. Good to get around him.
