Stevens Pass can be a whole lot of fun when there’s new snow. That’s what we found Tuesday, 3-5 inches of new and temps just below freezing. It snowed off and on all day, sometimes hard, but visibility was never really an issue. Crowds were minimal — no lines. A lot of the mountain was soft packed powder with lots of fluff here and there. We had a lot of fun on Seventh Heaven which had plenty of soft turns and some untracked. I had not skied Meadows in years and it was wonderful. the backside was a bit skied up but we found soft fluff in the trees and on Pegasus. The best snow we found was on Big Chief Bowl, deep and untracked. Kind of tough getting over there but worth it. Great skiing on the edges on Big Chair, ditto with Big Chief. My two ski partners ski Stevens every week and said it was their best day of the year so far.
