Crystal 12/2 was created by CD
I rate today S.I.L.:  Standing In Line.  100mph gusts on top kept it closed until 11:30.  That drove huge lines to Chinook and FQ.  Once the top opened, those lines moved to REX and GV.  Still quite windy on top and most of yesterday's good snow was wind impacted/scoured.  We stuck it out trying to get in a full day, but when we quit, we had half the vert we normally have for the time we skied.  That's a lot of standing around.

Wind, lines, wind-scoured, wind packed, and more waiting in line. Mid-mountain warmed and softened into heavy crunch that we would have beat a ski line into if not for the 20-minute wait to ski marginal snow.

Lordy Lordy - CD report today? Earth shaking event (only cause he went yesterday and the forcast and telemetry
looked awful).  And I  knew if  I  waited long  enough there would be a CMskier post. Why did I go? Cause I never pay
attention to forecasts and I had a short morning window of opportunity...big mistake all around.

Short (not) report - Drove up at a reasonable time in a somewhat slow pack.  Arrived and prepped and got into the
CHex singles line (singles lines can be nasty if the line control person is not great and I noticed today a
few times where that was the case).  Big Blue Bird sky and what REX on wind hold just as I got off CHex.  Hope!
Hope! Hope...but did a few quick runs on FQex when HC opened! Not many takers, but what are the options.  Screaming
winds on top and almost no snow in the off load area heading to PB - worst I've ever seen (maybe?). Dropping
into PB was mentally tense do to the swirling, blowing tornado winds - actually skied the best quality of my short day,
big smooth untracked wind blow - all in all fun and might have tried again except for all the rocks up top and
the fact that FQex lineup started building...so Skid road runs to CHex was how I ended my short morning till the
late arrivals started really filling up the lines...and more were on the way as I pulled out of the lot extra
early (plan get home early, rest and do my #1 chores during the afternoon).  Soup - clueless but probably Clam Chow.

Other - Hhhhmmmm....just was passing the
Ranch area and cars all stopped, wind howling through the trees, oh and a tree down across the road and while
I watched another tree came down across the road - ouch turned around and found a nice clear cut on East
Crystal Ranch road - pleasant and somewhat safe.  Watched the Fire department and heavy equipment deploy.  Spent
an hour sitting around watching the world. Longest drive home I've ever had - even back to the old aki school
bus days in the late 60's.

Long day for a very little skiing, but it was entertaining and I didnt screw my reservations with Crystal.

Glad you're OK, ddk.  On both the way up and the way down I was watching for trees about to come down.  Only got hit by one big branch.  The road was clear by the time I went home.  Also, you wouldn't have been able to do another run on C6.  They closed it after loading a handful of people and it never re-opened.
