AaaaaaaHaaaaa! Opening day rush is over and it was the "best" opening day in at least the last three or four. All the core
lifts running - didnt have to ride the bucket (which had some wind holds early and when I left). Arrived early (later than
typical opening days) to a empty A lot. Snowing wet flakes, so spent more time in the truck, but still had to wait
in the CHex line to long with a growing lineup, not as big as past years, but the Bucket line looked painful early,
especially when it did not open at 9am. CHex started loading at 8:55 or so and the first malfunction ocured - gates?
Didnt work and it became a frenzy to recover the loading process. Snowing hard all morning adding a nice new layer up
high, but snow was pretty variable with smooth nice and smooth breakable and lumpy stuff everywhere. Did early runs
in the Valley and then LS runs off Rex feeling the pain in my wimpy quads (to lazy this summer). Did some runs on
FQex to check conditions for #1 tomorrow - okay mostly and will be even better after colder temps and better
grooming. Wimped out extra early, but way more fun than the last couple of opening days. The "new normal" lift
loading will be interesting as will be how many folks actually show up on any given day.
Other - Soup or food report? Thanks Covid! Nothing to report. Crystal is still in the set up process with limited
outside seating areas and no inside space. The new fish bar at Campbell is a big trucking container, not open
today. Umbrella patio is limited and reserved. Food me - retro old days eating my sandwich and fruit chews on the
lift, like it will probably be all season and hopefully it will be a long season.
Other other - Parking? I went to the dark side and got an A lot weekday permit. Was very pleasant this morning in the
front row and will allow later wimpy arrivals this season - maybe even mid day. Otherwise parking - A lot 10% full,
B lot full to the shuttle stop, C lot 3/4 full with some cars in C and D. Drive was at speed both up and down with
one Elk noticed in Greenwater.
Great to get the first day over with. Looking forward to a long season. Everyone wear a mask in the lift lines!
