I had already decided to go backcountry, when they groomed Peak to Creek. I had visions of a smooth, high speed top to bottom cruise, so I put on my Alpine gear and went out first thing. Peak opened around 9 and I had the 8th chair. Right off the bat I realized that the top part of Peak was hard as a groomed and rippled rock, and my semi fast trip was over... By the turnoff to Lower Peak to Creek, the hardness eased, but I realized my dark goggles for the bluebird day, were dangerous in the heavy shade. Damn - I really wanted to rip, but not being able to see groomer irregularities kept my speed in check. <15 min with all the constant speed checking.....Went up with my BC gear and had a blast on Obeo!
