A sunny day with temperatures starting at 30 and rose to late 40's. Spring conditions and no lift lines. It started as a groomer day and as the day progressed it softened a bit for a couple of runs.Â
The base is at 7,776' and top elevation is 9.805'. The day starts on the Cornice Express lift and then hit the Sunrise lift for the corn snow. You can ski the Wave area towards Covered Wagon Peak but it was still firm.Three years ago they removed the rope tow lift towards Covered Wagon with the stiff wind area that caused problems. It is a walk area to get to the "stuff" after a storm. Backcountry gear is what we usually did in the spring. It also provides access to Mellisa Corey Peak and the "steep" runs to Emigrant Lake.
After that we go to Glove Rock, Sentinel Bowl, Cave Rock, Palisades Bowl and Reuter Bowl. Naturally that was the plan on a powder day. Plus we were in our 60's.
The Cirque area is permanently Closed. It was the place for Extreme Races before the Vail purchase.
