1/27 - Crystal was created by CD
A 4 out of 5 day.
Light traffic, light crowd, and our 3-person carpool was allowed to park in A-lot, 2nd row of free parking. Alright! Weather was great with light winds and unexpected bluebird sky until noon when the next front brought in some high overcast. 2 out of 2 for weather.
Snow was a 2 out of 3. Nice conditions, but some frozen hardness underneath and the groomers got scraped down to the ice layer, particularly LS. Best snow for us was any run on C6, Grubstake far left to under the chair, and Elksnort far right from the front side. Our band of 6 (minus two smart people) voted Bear Pits the worst with two of the 4 getting ejected from their skis due to all the crap lurking beneath the surface. Good thing there were no collarbones involved. No repeats there.
Ran into ddk on the mountain for the briefest of seconds to get some grief from him. Wished he would have stuck around for a run or two, but he hamstered off never to be seen again.

And more words about today - Hope the Southback reports come in.Â
Aaaaahhhhh! Another better than expected day, Sun, nice new snow everywhere, diamonds flashing snow, fairly
light crowd - but still efficient on cutting up the untraked fun. Other than the first stop and go ride
up CHex all the lifts spinning happily and empty mostly. Best for me, Big untracked PB and GV bowl early
runs and next best cut up left overs in PB and GV bowl, next best icy crapcrappyg on conditions on LS and
MIFB (defidefinitelying up to the old IceBerg name) - I do like nice carveable ice. Big sun, big views
and all fun. Another day where the conditions were better than forecast - never pay attention to theÂ
forecast...unless it says rain to 6K (like maybe Thursday?). Only info I can provide is from PB to MIFB -
BP's challenging, OuterFerks equally challenging, SunnySide I should have done first run, but it was
still doable early afternoon, Lower GV deep and soft and bumpy in my fav places. #1 had a good workout
day, but was ready to bail early afternoon as the grey overcast blew in - as I was also.
Other - Passed through CB lodge long enough to find out the soup of the week is SW Pulled Pork again (lordy
how many bags of pulled pork did they buy?) Pizza wasnt ready, but looked like it would be good.
Other Other - Drive up was mostly at speed till the blvd which looked like a sheet of ice and the guy
in front of us drove it like it was a sheet of ice (with the "new" green Crystal I havent seen the blvd
as bad to drive in years). Pay lot was massive and the car pool lot was being randomly enforced - we
got the old heli pad (thanks BINX), others managed to sneek into the A lot, others not! Ugly!
When we left the Pay lot was half full, rest of A was full (carpools?), B had a lot of wide rows and
C was pushing fullish. So it was a fair crowd today, didnt notice it on the lifts or slopes.
