While I was enjoying my drive from Wenatchee to Whistler, my daughter Ava, was having to cope with 13" of fresh up north. Didn't hear much, but it wasn't as good as you'd have thought...In line at 8:15 = top of Red at 10:00! That being said, she traversed over to Franz's Meadow and it was as good as it gets fresh tracks. Second run was still good - but not fresh. Below Red it had been rained on, so even though Garbonzo had"only" a 30 minute line it wasn't good.
There must be a need to replace the Whistler Gondola, as it was closed again for much of the day from Mid Station up. This has been regularly happening for the last 3-4 years - but before that it Almost NEVER happened. They replaced the cars before the Olympics, but not the guts. It's been breaking down an embarrassingly amount of times...
When the upper Gondo is down, guest experiences suffer on the whole hill. Creekside was a Zoo. Excalibur was crammed....and so on. With big snow and the Alpine closed, it was just one of those days...Despite all the good snow!
We will all try tomorrow and hopefully the weather and the lifts all work out!
