A 1.5 out of 5 day and an early departure.
We had filtered sun for our short day and the temps would have been comfortable if we could have worked a little harder. As it was, it was on the chilly side. Unfortunately, the howling east winds had the top closed at opening which drove us to FQ. 1 out of 2 for weather.
Off-piste, the snow was unskiable everywhere. Patrol told us if they opened the top, there was nothing good to ski. The groomers on the top half of FQ were smooth and soft, but half way down turned into icy hard pack. We also found some nice softening snow on the lower half of groomed Deerfly. That was it. .5 out of 3 for snow.
At noon, they opened REX. Half our group took a run down Lucky Shot while I skied IcyFerkBerg. Compared notes at the bottom of REX. Yep, ski patrol was right...nothing was good. Our band of 4 packed up and left.
