An excellent 3 out of 3 day.
Pay lot was a little bigger ending two rows below the bridge with spots reserved for HHW busses. Beautiful clear day that started similar to Monday, but with a mild west wind and forecast warm temperatures, the day held promise. After a couple icy groomers, Ferkberg started to noticeably soften at 9:30. By 11, Gulley Gulley went off followed quickly by Breakover and Showtime. Shed the coats in the ensuing warmth, put on the sunglasses and let the frenzy begin. While the light crowd stuck with the soft groomers, my little band of 3 skiers went into a blur of frontside runs for the next 2.5 hours. Around 1, some high clouds rolled in filtering out a lot of sun, but the warm temps kept things soft. By 1:30, we were shot hitting the 40K mark and calling it a day.
I've been having a debate rage in my not-so-quiet mind. Do I prefer a powder day or a warm spring day where the snow is just right after several freeze/thaw cycles. Just when I think it's no contest in favor of powder, I remember the extra freedom of movement that comes with shedding layers of clothes and the warmth of spring skiing and quite frankly, it's a toss-up for me. Plus, no powder frenzy on a day like today where people stay home.
Looks like snow is forecast starting tomorrow evening for the next 7 days and plunging temperatures first of the week. We could use the refresh as rocks are showing up in Ferkberg, and the cat-track off the top of REX to the ridge.
