Crystal - 1/24 was created by CD
A 2 out of 3 day. No crowds, clear blue skies, and 0 points for snow.

Left dreary, misty Seattle for the big mountain forecast to have sun. Got to the parking lot and still dreary and misty. Quick check of the web cams revealed sun from the bottom of REX up. By the time we loaded, the fog on the lower part of the mountain started to clear.

Nothing off-piste was skiable today. Saw 3 people try to get down PB. Ugly traverses the whole way. I tried old dependable GV right. Ended up doing an ugly traverse out. So, it was firm and sometimes icy groomers all day. The rain yesterday followed by overnight freezing was not kind to the mountain. Luckily, there was a west wind and lots of sun, so Ferkberg ended up with sun softening. Also, the left side of the groomed in GV in the small bumps got better as the day went on with granulated sugar filling in between the moguls. So, once again, rodent wheel time on GV and Ferkberg. Halfway through this season, I've skied that run more times than a normal full season.

Drive up and down very nice. Didn't pay attention to the lots.

And to much more verbiage about today -  So sad - a totally hamster treadmill groomer day...all that nice new snow and weather yesterday pretty much screwed up anything off piste (at least the north facing slopes - worse than chicken heads, I actually do not really know this from personal experience, sometimes my brain does work). Hamster run of the day on REX - Pro course (best packed pow grooming I experienced today) to MIFB (nasty icy screamer grooming early, got way better as the sun baked it). Big vert, big high speed, only a few LS runs do to getting to it and the crowd that was skiing it.  A little fog down at the base early and also for my last run back to the base (fog blowing up valley), but mostly a big blue bird see forever kinda day, got almost pleasant warm at times, but cool at the top with the west winds. Definitely a total groomer day base on watching a few crash test dummy's in PB and the front side early - REX chair line looked soft enough during the 1pm hour when I noticed a few folks making some nice turns in the warm sun - I wimped and didn't test it.  Had fun bumping into Quick Foot and Steve? at CB lodge late morning and then skiing a lot of fun way to fast runs with them (can't wait for the 3 point report today!).
Had fun - duh, worst snow conditions of the season, another typically sunny day at Crystal on a weekday in January looking at all the clouds in the low lands and up towards the far north. Did hear some nice reports from some of the "real" X-tal skiers that Upper Bull and E were very nicely skiable in the warm sun - just don't go into any shady areas.

Other - Soup at CB lodge was that dang CN again (tasted mighty fine), plus I went overboard and had the Barby Chicken pizza - looked good and tasted pretty okay...better than a lot of the recent options.  Crowd pretty light today, though FQex apparently had problems early so all that crowd was in the REX area - almost had to ride the lift with folks today. Pay lot was probably to big and couldn't tell how many folks parked in it had permits when I left, 5 buses or so, cars in B and C to the shuttle stops - so it was a fair sized crowd for a weekday.

The really short report:
Snow - groomers only, 0.2
Crowd - 0.8 because everybody was crowded in on the groomers
Visibility - 1.0 beautiful sunshine most of the day

As CD said 2/3

Had lunch and a couple runs with the hamster himself, which was fun.
