First day out this year and much better than expected. Lots of cars but almost zero lift lines until oddly at about 1:30 the line on Rex got really big. I was heading down anyway. Then at the bottom Discovery had an even bigger line and finally the line at Chex was powder day, opening time huge, really HUGE! The gondola shut down for wind and the wind on my last ride on GV was pretty sideways.
So the skiing was a mixture. The best snow was high up, GV bowl, Grubstake trees, Iceberg, Snorting Elk. Other off the groomed was not so good for an old, out of shape guy, and did not get many takers. I took a few FQ runs just to prove that I could finish a run without stopping but the snow there was pretty scrapey. With the wind it started snowing and filling in so Sunday has potential.
Legs were hurting and I was sucking wind but good to be back on the slopes.
