Snow didn't start till 6am or so, and the top didn't open, so it wasn't a full blown powder day - but there were tracks to be made and things softened up. The first few laps on Emerald was soft, on fast groomed snow. When the line started building, I ducked the ropes to Olympic and who knew - plenty of coverage and nobody there. I was afraid of a line still in the village, but there was a line at Midstation, so I went anyway. Lower Olympic actually skied great, with better snow than Upper Olympic for some reason. There was still a line on the vIllage Gondo, but I couldhave walked on Excalibur. Instead I had lunch GLC. Line was gone at the Gondo, so I just lapped it three more times in the afternoon working on my 4,000' legs. Expressway was covered and smooth, giving another option to Olympic. After a stop to hydrate, I unsuccessfully tried to ski powder on Franz's Meadow. Franz's Chair closed on me so I skied smooth, hard bumps down upper Franz's With plenty of snow.
Best day of the year for me as the snowmaking opened up so much more terrain, and the new snow made almost top to bottom skiing fun!
It's still snowing, and as the top stayed shut down due to wind and storm, tomorrow should be the next best day of the year!
Only 5-6" of new at Pig Alley - But I'm sure the top has much more!
