Crystal - 12/02 was created by ddk
Nice day all in all, lots of sun, cold, okay snow making quality, light early crowd (got #1 slot on CHex and -1 chair...yee hah), better early grooming (nice icy corduroy), couple early CHex runs and then suffered SQS (Slow Quick Silver) early - cold, flat light, bad brain - but it got better! Suffered SQS more times today than in the last two seasons! First Best Baby Bumps I've had the pleasure of skiing this season and skier left during the big sunny window was very fun skiing with Mr Ferk.
Lots of CMAC and Pass racers screaming around in-between the old slow skiers and who knows what they are gonna do Snowboarders. But over all if you have to suffer early season CHex and SQS! skiing it was a pretty high on my list of 18/19 ski days - ha ha! Lots of snow making guns blowing on Skid/Arwin/Road (for every more SAR) and it opened, but looked to challenging for old folks (especially since the guns were still blowing - should be very nice on Wednesday). Snow quality and coverage has been better every time I've been (not saying much). Crowd was reasonably sized today (#1 would not have been happy - lots of downhill racers and I got lucky not getting taken out by the random jerk). Lots of folks skinning up SQS out south - nice to get to talk to Scotsman who was chasing a bunch of half his age folks. Crystal has been letting a lot of up hill traffic (kinda weird when you almost run into one in narrow spots). Hike to the top and get a free bucket ride down...might be a good way to do GV. Skied longer than expected due to bumping into Erick and family (Nicole, Tim and David), very nice fun people that seem to be able to suffer me. Got vert and number of runs record for this season - ha ha.
Other - Rode the Bucket for the second time this season...nice solo walk around rides with nice views. GV lift was running dropping off Patrol worker bees that were leaving some very nice turns in the bowl...looked like one real storm away from fun times.
Other other - Pay lot was way over sized as usual, rest of A full and C was half full of widely spaced rows, some folks parked in B that were not employees, drive up and down was nice except for a couple of wacky drivers.
Other other other - First soup report at the base! No soup, just Beef Stew and Chili...hhhhmmm started the harassing severs process today - ha ha!
All in all a fun day, even if it was still very limited... Lookin forward to Wednesday with #1 in the cold sun.

Nice to see you ddk.
I never did catch them but I think I out lasted them!
We toured out to Crystal Lakes.
No tracks or people out there.
Very beautiful day with cold snow and surface facets glistening in the sun.
Enough snow to ski but you had to ski slow and carefully.
Toured back up to 3 way exit chute, dropped that and then skinned back up to top of Silver for last run to base.

Nobody seemed to pick up on DDK's cameo appearance on the CM site on opening day. Here he is, but where is his #1?
