Short Report - Better than expected, less crowd (private resort conditions), nice enough groomers (LS and MIFB at least), foggy early down low, nice sun on top, nothing off piste was doable - didn't even try, BMW's skiing fast screamers chasing a very fast Fireman. The lack of sliding on snow withdrawal symptoms are a lot better for me right now.
More Words Report - Arrived typically early to a very quiet empty ski area. Jumped onto the second CHex chair with #1 (early for her) and the lineup was gone on the third chair. #1 went to check out FQex early and I chased that speedy Fireman (he thought early on it would be an hour and out kinda day - he lasted a lot longer...). Vis was great up top and fuzzy damp at the bottom of REX early, but vis kept getting better and the laps down GV main groomer to MIFB were faster than I've had the pleasure of doing most of this season. Lack of skier/snowboarder participation today kept the limited groomer options in primo condition. Big views of Rainier and Adams early with nice cloud caps. Was kinda nice not having the powder frenzy of last week. Was surprised about some of the brown showing up already at the bottom of MIFB and on some of the runs close to the bottom of REX...otherwise the snow pack seems to have survived the recent temps and crowds...most off piste areas need more snowboarder side slipping grooming or just plain more traffic and warmer temps (or as the Fireman said another foot or two of new). Great day for Hamster Treadmill screamer groomer laps on the very happy BMW's - glad the RockCoombas were resting at home today.
Other - Pay lot was still to big today and not close to full when we left...4 buses, lots of really bad parking in the rest of the A lot (parking folks must have had the day off). It was the Triple C soup at CB lodge today ( I had pepperoni pizza, they had nicer types when I was leaving). Drive up in #1's WRX was fast and the drive down was even happier in the light of day. All in all a very pleasant day - a bunch more fun than the last 4 days.
