We spent the night in Marysville outside of Kimberley and just below the ski resort. We received our free tickets from our Max Passes. Jill spoke to a resort person for the "info"-- Kimberly was bought in 2010 and received new lifts including a 4 person high speed quad. But the real money was in "real estate" - new condos and places along the base, a road to more condos, and a new base village and restaurant. It reminds me of the Vail purchase mindset. Buy a resort so you can make money in real estate like at Whistler Blackcomb.
The area has treed terrain everywhere. Tree skiing is BIG, BUT they do not get a lot of snow. I read that they get under 200" each year. There was a fog blanket today with temperatures in the 20's and packed powder. The top 20 percent was in the sun and the rest was in a fog layer, and it was COLD. But the treed trails provided the ability to see the run. The treed runs that were not groomed have "sticks and a few rocks" showing. The resort is part of the RCR family of Resorts of the Canadian Rockies.
