Since there will be no report from ddk, let me just say YeeHaw! After last week, I had decided not to go again until new snow. But over the week-end, the ski Jones kicked in big time. So, up we went today with very low expectations. First run down Lucky Shot and our expectations were exceeded. They did a great job of grooming and have started harvesting snow off the side of the run and out of Little Portillo for coverage. Talked to some folks that were there on Friday and they said LS was a lot better today. However, coverage is thin everywhere. FQ is starting to show a lot more dirt, particularly on the blind side of some of the roll-overs. But, also a great job of grooming everywhere on FQ as well. Skiers left of Green Valley is a rock garden, but picking our way through the top rocks to the right side revealed pretty firm and iced up bumps. Huh? It was like 50 degrees. However, the south wind was cold and kept the slopes fairly firm all day, which was a good thing to preserve the snow. Didn't ski the valley again until noon and while it had softened some, we decided to do laps on Lucky and FQ instead.
Other. Arrived at 8:15 to find the pay lot at least 10 rows deep. Bigger than all of last week. Still parked fairly close in the second row of free parking. Just before 11, looked down at the pay lot to see the first row wasn't full and the rest empty. At 11am, they opened it up to late comers. Only A lot had cars in it today besides the employees in B lot. Very light crowd, but did have a small bucket line at one point when Chinook went down for a while.
Had enough fun today, going up solo tomorrow for one last hurrah before the ridge and inversion start to break down.
