The last time I skied here was 27 years ago when I flew into their airport in a snow storm. The airport is on a plateau and in the wind in a small plane it was a memorable experience. This time Jill and I each had two tickets from our Mountain Collective passes. It was a sunny day with temps in the teens. The town of Telluride is at 8725'. Our NH son is 47 and the two grandsons on the trip are 17 and 11, and all are great skiers. The upper Revelation Bowl gets you to 12,515'. We launched them, and with smiles on their faces they skied down into some steep terrain. The nearby peaks and bowls attract the climbers and backcountry skinners. We could see beautiful untracked terrain and a few folks heading up high. About 80% of the terrain is tree-lined. It was a groomer day unless you wanted to hike. The kids from NH went from sea level to 12, 500' in 2 days! It is great to see their energy for skiing and then see them crashing and going to sleep almost instantly. Our first night there we got a 'winter storm warning' – great news to our ears.
