Crystal - 02/24

Few words report – Great day, great early screamer groomers, great donut hole from Rainier sun most of the day, great no crowds (?), great no lift lines, great cold snow, great lazy stashes of way deep snow…aaahhhh!

Lots of words report – Arrived early expecting a big crowd day (holiday week and a Friday?), lonely easy drive up (only saw two other cars heading to Crystal), got front row in a very small free part of the A lot (massive big pay lot – should have made a bet with the parking guys about how full it would be at the end of the day… I would’ve won), got prime spot on CHex and after it started loading at 8:30 the line was gone at 8:34. Never stood in a lift line and didn’t ride a lift with very many folks all day – mostly solo..nice. Looked like the fog might blow in mid morning, but never happened, actually got sunnier as the day progressed….love that Rainier donut hole effect. Did PB/BP’s a number of times early just in case the fog rolled in…The Hamster Treadmill was wider and more diverse than normal….skied from the low Throne gate (into powder heaven) all the way North to EH – which was actually very nice (and lonely) and I5 was way better than I ever remember seeing it (almost sucked me into a repeat, huh?). Did Doors and SunnySide and Memorial (some lumps, some firm, but still all very skiably happy). Pretty cold day, even with the sun.

Other – Passed through CB lodge and it was Triple C again (Miranda tried to get me to have some – where was eskinmo? Tired today from the big work out yesterday?). Pay lot was massive this morning and not close to full, especially with the single vehicle rows? Great parking! B might have been half full and C had lots of cars….Drive up and down were easy casual.

Unexpectedly better than hoped for day.
