We spent the night in Sandy, 4700', about 33 miles from Brighton which is at the end of Big Cottonwood Canyon. It was a VERY windy day in Sandy and even WINDIER at Brighton at 8755'. It was a different world at the top of the lift at 10,630'. They reported 4” overnight and more as the winds developed deeper pockets of snow. Our first few runs were off Great Western Express. The wind had created drifts on skiers' left along Elk Park Ridge. By staying on the right side you had powder all along the ridge. It was very quiet and we rode the lifts with the locals. We had some great powder runs down through the trees, and even managed to almost get first tracks on a couple of runs. It is usual for us to end the day early and to see the locals also stopping and heading downhill. Our MAX Pass is our best friend... The storm is here for a couple of days, so there are more powder days to come. Yahoo! ;)
