Pulled in a little late, but what the hey it was a snow day and it was too dangerous to drive the 4 miles to work, so I drove the 70 to Crystal, are you still thinking the way I am, good, let's continue then..... parked in the E and grabbed the cattle mover, boots on in a jiffy and in line, what a bucket ride, it was the who's who of Crystal mountain ski patrol (vets), Old Pros, the type of old pros that used to hike to the top of six, before there was a chair up there to do control work on PB and the just retired Avi Expert of all time and his son, Chet knows snow pack like no other. He is the WORD and had been for so long, I was in great company on the way up, Chet was heading to Lucky Shot with the 6 year old Boy and it was "come on dad, let's go" as soon as the Gondi door opened, You are the MAN on this hill and many others throughout the US........ANYWAY. I dipped the Darksides into the gut of Green Valley and loved what I had underfoot, I dropped into Spook and found Knee Deep un- tracked on the edges, this skied very well, why was this not skied out? I lapped it again and then Lucky shot and slid into the Lucky Shot Trees, again knee deep and great lines in this line that seldom gets skied, Up Rex and Down Upper Ferks ( he is my hero), but this time stayed way high on the upper Ferk Shoulder(Skier right)(climbers left) on this ridge line, I found Knee deep untracked again, I harvested what I could before bailing back into Lower Ferk to Skid Row out, Top to Bottom and a bucket ride up to repeat and it was better the second time around, by this non stop time, my legs were done. I heard the South Teams busting their asses, nice work you young Bucks and Dows. Just remember breaking train in a boot pack that is thigh deep snow, makes you butt look good and thank you for the steps you kicked in for all of us old farts.
I left early so I wouldn't hold up any locals that drive this wiggle every day, God Forbid. Home early with a Martini in hand. life is good. Think snow, Thank you Ullr!
