Crystal - 12/30 was created by CD
Arrived at the parking lot at 7:40 and was able to park in A-lot. We weren't sure what kind of snow awaited us due to the warming trend that hit briefly yesterday before temps dropped again. Once up top, encountered freezing fog that frosted the goggles every 30 seconds. The snow was much better than expected with last night's refresh, but visibility was an issue for the first hour. As promised, skies started to clear which opened the way for Bear Pits, C6, and REX front side runs which skied surprisingly well. As bluebird skies developed, chanced a run down Employee Housing. That was the run of the day and resulted in an immediate repeat. A very close second (some of us thought a first because of no push out the bottom) was Exterminator. There was still stashes of untracked in there from Wednesday if you knew where to go. That also demanded an immediate repeat. Finished with runs down the front side which had consolidated into packed pow bumps. Another great day.

All parking lots full to the gills and while lines weren't bad on the mountain, hordes of humanity swarmed around all the lodges and gathering spots.

Traffic Soup: Went through Enumclaw early at 6:40 and immediately encountered a caravan of cars that drove 40mph the entire way. Thus the hour trip between Enumclaw and Crystal. On the way home much better. 50 - 55 the whole way.

Gonna get real cold real soon. As Frankie says, Be Prepared.

I was reluctant based on yesterday’s warming and thought the frozen-goggle first hour would confirm my original plan to stay home. When the fog parted, the snow was surprisingly good. Least impressive (good most days) was Campbell and Powder Bowl. Bear Pits showed the promise and Employee Housing made the day worthwhile. Three times. A new line found by JD had untracked leftovers from wednesday. The crowd was in full effect but didn’t seem to know what to do, as lines were minimal (except the Gondy which had an hour wait at 1:30) and other than Luckyshot, viewed from Rex, the runs were almost empty. Very few runs didn’t involve some careful turns getting in to miss the rocks.
