Short version for those folks up North – Great groomers, big views, typical X-tal parking, great off piste easy carving fun, fast lifts, small lines mostly, happy folks…And the big wordy report for those folks that like to read to much….ha ha… Pretty nice holiday Monday…arrived early expecting a big rush….wasn’t there at the start…10 or so folks waiting for CHex to start loading – early! 8:29! Felt very cold, great early morning vis with bright filtered sun…screamer fast perfect groomers on Lucky and MIFB, Valley Bowl very nice packed smallish styro type snow? Easy cranking carving bouncing fun….M-World early okay, but could use a little more traffic (snowborder side slippers?) to break the frozen top layer, better SunnySide (many repeats during the day for JD – YYAAA!). Looked iffy on the cloud cover early, so I did the PB/BP run to really wake up the brain and muscles…very nice in the Pits! Was very awake after that. Rock fest up top the Queen – but just side step a ways down and then jump in….Did E mid morning and again to finish the day – top very nice, hang hard right close to the trees to the bottom…all good. Finally did Outer Ferks (skier right side of Lucky Trees), nice snow, but still takes effort on the top entrance. Good day for the this Hamster in his fav treadmill runs…pound the bumps, pound the quads. Had some nice big Rainier Donut Hole weather mid day. Crowd really picked up during the 10:15 morning rush – not really that bad and way lot less than I had expected…by 11am they were all in the lodges eating big food.
Other – Soups at CB lodge were the Triple C and TB (again?) hope they run out soon. Very busy when I passed through…as was the base when I quit…but at least they had Chicken Noodle – so had to have a bowl sitting by the big Umbrella waiting for the band to start playing – left before they started.
Other Other – Parking was the new normal early this morning and the Pay lot was half empty when I looked at it from Exterminator late morning – full when I left (since it was open for everybody by then), B, C, D, E lots all full with folks walking up from the F lot…It was full on tourist conditions today – Bucket line when I left was very long and full of mostly walkers ( with the wacky skiers mixed in – no real line on CHex at that time). Great day, to many words, lots of snow tonight and tomorrow (the rumor). The hard cores will probably be showing up soon again.
