Bbbbbbrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Cold, windy, quiet, perfect groomers that lasted forever since the slopes were pretty empty, off piste variable based on sun exposure from yesterday and just plain getting beat up since the last snow fall…seems so long ago! Even colder chasing a Fireman around most of the morning – thanks! Got happy warm in Bearpits when I did it – nice light, nice snow on what is my fav line. GV bowl was pretty nice small bumps to work up some heat. Memorial was more variable snow quality – which also made me warm. Skied with a face mask thingy all day – hard for my mouth wheezing breathing, but it kept my face warm enough. Rock Coombas worked today – but they have been happier other days…might have to finally drag out the main season skis. Rocks in places, mostly avoidable when you kinda know where they might be. Howling winds up top and through the gaps when I bailed early.
Other – No soup at CB lodge today, Tomato Bisque at the base and looked like they might have had that Turkey Noodle at the Shack. Not much food available at CB lodge.
Other other – Pay lot was normally big and normally half empty, cars filling about a 1/3 of C and a few rows in B. Pretty light crowd as usual. One employee commented that the holiday crowds are not to far away anymore. Good screamer get cold carve some turns kinda day – building ski muscles.
Shoulda skied yesterday! Dang!

Now, for the rest of the report. Breakover and Sunnyside skied better than Memorial. Worth several repeats. Paradise Bowl on the left side had some of the best snow on the mountain. Paradise Bowl right, was wind crusted and difficult. However, the run of the day was GV bowl to Sluiceway, Berry Patch, then down lower E with a nice (warmer) gondie ride back to the howling wind on top. Finished the day with 4 of those, then bailed on the early side due to diminishing visibility on top.

Adding to CD… Not a day to ski groomers as the lack of energy and speed just made my face freeze. Valley and Sunnyside woke up the muscles. Surprising how just left or right of Sunnyside there was sun damage from yesterday even with the cold temps. Thought I’d get behind the ridge out of the wind and go to Northway Bowl - pushed the whole way into a freezing headwind. Northway Bowl had nice blown in snow… over a breakable wind crust. Mid Northway was great, lower weird. As CD said, GV Bowl - C-3 Chairline - Sluiceway - B Patch - and an excellent Lower E bump jam. Best snow and energy. Warmest ride up.
