Crystal - 11/28

Big morning! More words later.....Its now later....And the verbose part of the day…..Arrived fashionably early for a Monday, front row behind the mid season sized empty Pay part of the A lot. Got slot number one on CHex on what looked to be a very very nice morning – sun breaking out, new snow covering the slopes, nothing but hard core week day Skiers waiting to upload (somebody noted the lack of snowboarders in lineup? hhhhmmmm). Started uploading at 8:45, got to the top just of REX just in time to see all the snowboarders racing out of the first bucket to put their boards on – so sad for them while all the skiers dropped in to the smooth sunny GV bowl and everywhere else. A little heavier snow today, but nice, but what left over quads I had from yesterday were complaining a lot this morning. Great runs in the Valley, great runs down Lucky and MiddleIceFergBerg and other lower front side areas of REX. Quads kept complaining so I bailed at noon to do those dang chore things. New snow today covered a lot of rocks (but not all), the groomers were pretty sweet and smooth and fast – amazing what 6” of new just right temp snow will do for the slopes. Nice lack of participation by the mass’s of humans. Started to grey in places when I left, which made it easier to leave.

Other – no soup report again today…sounds like FQex is a go for Wednesday which has to mean High Campbell is not far behind (and the regular CB lodge soup reports – sorry).
All the cars in all the lots could have fit in the A lot today….except for the big massive empty pay lot. Good day, life is very nice right now. See you all soon on the slopes.

Due to injury and surgery last spring, entered today with foot-in-boot apprehension. All went well, best pair of new boots I’ve skied first day. With very limited terrain, but great snow, alternating Green Valley Bowl and Luckyshot was the call. The 6” of new hid the rocks for 2 hours, but by noon things were packing hard and on the Luckyshot side, rocking up. Green Valley Bowl held the best snow all day. Lower down it thickened up. Iceberg was a fun challenge early and quad burning tough later.

Readers I would like to point out that DDK left at noon and was still able to put out a three paragraph report,with some of the most complicated punctuation I have ever encountered. It wont be long before he is skiing till 3pm and documenting every minute of it ....Crystal Mountain is "Dang" lucky to have a documentarian at the peak of his prowess, to take on the task, of monitoring the daily grind of the fully retired ski bum life style. I see a book deal in his near future
