Only mid-mountain was open today; gondola bump up, no alpine open. Impressive lines at many lifts.
Snow skied well everywhere, dry but a little heavy lower on the mountain. Off-piste, knee+ deep and velvet. Mind the rocks/stumps that lie below. Roped-off terrain is generally roped off for a reason. Plenty of open creeks.
The control work that we watched did not get prominent results. The top ~20 cm of snow is slightly more dense and imperfectly bonded.
The big questions -- will the upper lifts open Saturday? Will all of Vancouver turn up and make for biblical lines? Time will tell.
Suggestions for Whistler-area road-access tours appreciated. Crowded and played-out tours are fine by us!
