A very interesting day for March – kinda like a big nasty stormy day in December…big winds (howling from the southeast) big snow all day (nuking dumping mid day), no crowds (unlike in December), bad vis in the Valley Bowl areas (sadly), good grooming (especially when I was social with #1 on FQex runs), great facial ice abrasion across the upper ridges (especially top of GV Chair and Windy/Powder Pass areas), lifts running nicely early, but sadly HC closed down during the 11am hour. Felt cold. Snow quality on the mid to lower mountain kept getting better and better all day. Wind protected areas were getting loaded up fast (should be really big on all the North and West facing slopes tomorrow). Temps (or the wind effect) were cold enough to keep it nice and cold snow all day.
Other – Soup at CB lodge was the Triple C (and a actually had a bowl and it was really good). Parking in the A lot was typical, lots of snow on my truck when we left and down the Blvd a ways, no cars to notice in B or C. Fun day (what would I say?) on a really stormy day in March. Sounds like the next week has a lot of promise.

There is still lots of chunky ice underneath the new. Best spots had smooth base, mostly the groomers, but very late Rinky-Dink with trees for visibility then right into more trees was pretty sweet. Wind drifts on cat tracks were hard to see. Gondy also shut down with the wind. Direction was upslope and did not impact Rex or GV, at least until you got off and faced downhill! Snowing most of the way down CM Blvd. New snow was slabbing off easily; not a good time to leave the resort boundary. Day 4 post surgery.

Post 4 surgery? None of my ortho surgeries allowed me to ski in four days! Four months, yes.

More of the story:
Hernia in November. Repair surgery 12/30/2015. Two and half months doing zero exercise. Day 1 for the season, 2/20. Shooting for 11 days to break even on the pass.
I didn't miss anything in Nov-Feb, did I?
