Another very nice day on the BIG mountain…looked kinda grey early, but the clouds were high and they parted into the nice world of skiing Crystal in the sun.  Great grooming early, light early crowd, and light mid day crowd and even lighter afternoon crowd. Groomers held up nicely, especially MiddleIceFerkBerg (for evermore MIFB in my reports – less typing) early and even better late when it turned into perfect soft mush spring skiing.  #1 was up today and skiing strong early, but I still managed to sneak in a number of PB/BP runs during the day – great packed snow in PB and great soft spring smooth in BP’s.  Other bigger almost more fun for the hamster was GV bowl!!! Perfect easy nice just right soft go anywhere turn anywhere bumps – sucked me in a bunch of times.  Mostly nice sunny/filtered sunny day, great big views with clouds and sun breaks and I actually paused and looked at it all from the top of the Queen! Big views.

Other – Soup at CB lodge was the Triple C today (dang I was gonna have some Garden Vegy).  No lift lines pretty much all day any where I was…not many folks actually riding HC lift all day.  Pay lot sort of full, fair number of HHW buses showed up, not much overflow parking below the end of the A lot.  Great day, Great fun, quit early to save a few turns for what might be a really really great BIG Thursday!.... ;D

We musta been at the HUGE mountain as I went from Powder Bowl to Brand X. I thought PB in the morning sun looked like the run - but was unpleasantly surprised by the choppy, icy-patchy, snow. Slowly moved north finding Valley Bowl, Grubstake, Paradise Bowl, Northway Bowl via the Peak, and then Brand X got better the further north you went. Repeats! And, as I guess you measure things these days, 19 minute round trips on Morning Glory/Brand X runs. Although, try as we might, no soup out North. At 1:30 things had softened into T2B goodness, minus the sticky flats. A late start tomorrow will catch it, as today’s soft-turned-frozen thaws.

Northway was very icy down towards the bottom in the morning.

Did it melt out at all later in the day?

The last Corner of Doom was the only icy spot coming in from the Brand X side. Chairline Bumps at the bottom had some icy turns, but with no one on the chair, we could ski the middle Low Chair zone between the sticks. Or, a very tight edge line. Never melted, but sun today might have toasted more.
