Great day in the Sun, great day for #1, great groomers, great no lift lines and no crowds on the slopes, great soft mush in some of the right places, great work out skiing on some other slopes….all in all a fun Monday. Lifts started loading early and no one was around, felt cold early, nice views out over the oceans of clouds north, east and south. The little bump out to the west was impressive looking today. Did a number of easy carving runs on FQex with #1 late morning and she finished her day in the afternoon with a run down Kelly’s Gap – some nice some work, but all fun. Groomers were screamer smooth and fast, sunny slopes got nice and soft off piste, shady slopes (PB and GV) were firm and lumpy in places but getting better with more traffic. Had some nice slush runs in the Doors and Bearpits. Coverage is great with the only visible rocks on top of HC heading towards the south.

Other – Soup was Tomato Bisque, split a Teriyaki rice bowl – very good. Parking was okay, but with no shuttles for the overflow out of the A lot – probably kinda sad for the folks parked in B and C and a long walk. Otherwise a Great day

Another beautiful bluebird day. The BMWs camouflaged as Aftershocks were very happy skis today. After some fast groomers including a 60mph run down deserted Lucky Shot, did repeated trips down the mainline chute in Powder Bowl, then out to Bear Pits where it was some good, some so-so. After Iceberg started to get soft, did a couple down the front side where it was some good and some so-so. The big run of the day was Door 6 to the top entrance of Lucky Shot trees, then out the bottom of Outer Ferks. Many, many hamster runs on that one.

Due to no crowds and fast groomers, finished with a very big vert day.

Sure, but how many vertical feet? Or it doesn't count!

YES!

The middle of the mountain won today as the best skier groomed, soft, and steep zone. Pretty rough and wild for first-of-the-year trips down PB Main Chute, but adrenaline won out. Bear Pits and The Frontside need some skier smoothing. All likely academic with the warm, wet forecast. Love the blue ski/white snow interface.

The Crystal App GPS counted 17 run segments over 60mph. And multiple sources put us between 41 and 46K of vert. For what it’s worth.

My Avocet had us at 41K, Ken's Crystal GPS app had us at 46K. Usually, the two are within 1 - 2% of each other, so not sure why the large divergence this time.

Maybe all those super fast high speed groomer runs....never trust the gps apps....think about wheel rotation to gps when Mt Biking...real clue would be stop watch mode as you jump off the top or REX (and with luck you remember to turn it off at the bottom of REX - or if so inclinded the base of the Bucket!)...probably could figure pretty accurate real data about vert to minute ratio - if I was some kinda teckie engineer type of guy - NOT!
