Crystal - 01/20

Aaahhh…another BIG BONUS day at the BIG BROGTHER SOUTHER RESORT! Big new light snow, boot deep to knee deep depending on the wind loading. BIG nice vis and sun (kinda sad sun since it kinda baked some of the sunny slopes), BIG easy fall line drops in the BIG Hamster arena. Really nice not BIG crowd – but the folks around today were very efficient at tracking up most of the slopes (did manage to keep finding nice big untracked pow fields to trash). BIG fun in the Doors and Pits and Powder Bowl, plus Campbell Basin was great fun (wish I had spent all morning there working the track south). Coombas were in heaven today.

Other – Soup was the Garden Vegy thing again. Parking was almost reasonable in the A lot – lots of Wednesday Buses. Overflow into C and a row or two in B. Great day, lots of fun, heard BIG things about lots of places the last couple of days….Finished my day with a Wimpy entrance into Upper E – still good down the shaddy skiers right side…but a lot of the sun impacted areas will not be pleasant, unless the rains and wet snow tomorrow really smooth and fill it in

Finally got to try the new Rossi 7's in some powder today. The faster I went, the happier they were. Ditto ddk's report. Also did a run down Employee Housing in early afternoon. The stuff in the sun was getting baked, but staying close to the trees on the right side all the way down was the ticket. Man, that is one long continuous fall-line run I really like. I-5 out was fast and fairly smooth. The couple top-to-bottoms we did out Kelley's Gap found zero wait for the bucket and the far right side of Berry Patch gave up the powder goods later in the day. Just always get nervous skiing under Rockface when it's fairly loaded with snow that hasn't let go yet. Never made it out to Northway but heard good reports.

A great Woooohoooo day.

Yes, what a day. the BIG bonus was the powder pig horde stayed away. We skied from Hamburger to Northway and found really good pow skiing everywhere. Even BIGGER was that good snow lasted till we quit at about 2:00. No line on 6 or Northway when we were there. Mostly Sun, 10 in. of light enough snow, and no crowd. YES!

Arrived just as the snow stopped and the clouds cleared, perfect. Pow in the sun early, but by mid morning the sun impact was showing. Not deterred, kept to the shady aspects and skied untracked, in places, till the end. Best tip-of-the-day was that E-Housing was good. Great in the shade and I-5 was fast and, for I-5, smooth. T2Bs started in knee deep pow on Elk-Snort and ended in huge soft bumps on Lower E. An awesome day that will likely bear no resemblance to tomorrow’s high snow levels and rain. Dang.

Great day! Far surpassed expectations, and Crystal Ops ran W/O a hitch. I even chuckled to myself walking past A lot when I noticed Elite parking was nearly full.
Was able to find excellent snow all day. Untracked lines early out North and late out South.
