Sorry! A lot of words….basic report – it was a GREAT DAY
.
Ah a pretty tough day early this morning. Not feeling to hot from to much happy time and not enough sleep last night. Dang! What skis to take based on limited brain power – BMW’s or Coombas? Coombas won out and I and they were very very happy about the decision. Arrived early after surving the low land icy roads. Jumped onto the first CHex chair and the last folks in line jumped on the 4th chair. Big sunny cold conditions. Big Huge Bonus Day. One run down Lucky early and looking at PB! Second run was first tracks skier right off the top of The Queen – happy fun nice left over deep with new filling in the deep cuts…dang that was nice enough to repeat (more than a few times today). Outer Ferks (Lucky Shot trees skier right) was awesome fun and even doable the last hundred feet or so (right on the edge of the nasty zone). Nasty Zone – personally anything from about 1 or 2 hundred feet above the bottom of REX to the base…totally nasty. Above the Nasty Zone – very nice deep soft happy big go anywhere fun. Only skied from Grubstake in the Valley to the GV Bowl, to Sunnyside, to a few fun Doors (1st and 4th). Did Rabbit Ears and skier right of Chair 6 plus a couple others further South – all fun, all left over filled in and untracked skiing. Rocks right off the top of HC are a pain, but still pretty easy to get around if your paying attention. PB and OF/BP’s for me were the runs of the day…Thanks CMSkier for not skiing your fav line in BP’s today – it was sweet smooth deep untracked when I finally went there early afternoon. Great day, better than expected.
Other – Soup at CB was Garden Vegy (looked good). Parking in the A lot was pretty typical, C was clustered around the shuttle stop, cars in B….Pretty sweet unexpected fun in the Big Sun with not enough folks around. Heard big things about folks skiing the King…probably all the hard skiers were out South today.

Got there late but was able to get in 7 runs in Southback/ A basin. The best snow was true east facing with tree protection as the North facing bowls had been windswept overnight. Some spectacular skiing off the King into Silver Basin. Sun held till 3 when the fog started rolling in. Heard NW was good but never got off of 6.
