Lordy what a day at Xtal…Howling winds on the ridge tops (but the lifts kept spinning – though slowly), dumping nuking snowfall, nobody on the mountain (almost), no lift lines (didn’t have to get close to the singles line today), hard nasty vis at times in the wrong places folks shouldn’t go, colder than frozen snot, great groomers (that I did), wind scoured areas across the typical upper exposed slopes (when you get a SE type of flow), no blue bird skies (though there were a couple of pretty nice teaser openings), did I say it was cold? Had colder hands and feet than I cant even remember since when, great filling in snowfall on the protected and lower slopes (almost no wind at the base of REX)…Did PB once at maybe not the best of times, snow was good, but my radar was not working so well…Did mostly from early BP’s to Awesome Outer Ferks (one of those wind protected areas – that give you first tracks multiple times on a day like today), over to various Door lines (a little more variable on the wind blasting), to Sunnyside during the biggest vis opening, across the Valley (Ann’s run was fun), to SnortElk bowl (vis when I did it was not primo). Finished my somewhat short day doing Upper and Lower E!...gotta say pretty nice with the little bit of new fresh untracked snow.
Other – Yee Haaa got lucky and when I passed through CB lodge they had CHICKEN NOODLE and Macadamia White Choc cookies and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and it was a happy time socializing while I suffered eating lunch. Parking was typical at least in the A lot (lots of space provided for the no shows)…the crowd didn’t show today at all (thank you Seahawks – keep it going!)…traffic on 410 going down still sucked at times? Going up was a fast and easy drive almost all the way.
Other other – tomorrow lots of places like Left and Right and EH and probably north will be pretty fun. Cant go…so have a big one for me (shouldn’t be to hard).
