I did an early morning weather check and Snoqualmie and Stevens were in the low teens and Crystal's top was at 22 degrees. We were on the road by 6:30am and arrived at 8:30am after following 30 cars. We parked in the “C” lot near the sign and walked 10 feet to get onto the shuttle. We have a MAX Pass and were in the lift ticket line, but an Ambassador said that if you have a MAX Pass go to Guest Services for a ticket; Guest Services said they can't print tickets and that we needed to go back to the ticket line. A small inconvenience. So if you have a MAX Pass just get in the lift ticket line.
We were riding our first lift at 9:20am and no lines. We just skied all the groomers and avoided the groomers that had all the traffic and were too crowded. The mogul fields and ungroomed lines did not get much traffic today. We have not skied Crystal for two years and it was nice to see the new terrain. The Quicksilver lift was new to us and the nearby groomers were great and relatively deserted. A couple of skiers were skinning to Silver Basin.
Lunch break was a treat at the Campbell Basin Lodge. The lodge was full, but we found 2 seats and the guys there said to join them. During our conversation I mentioned that we didn't ski at Crystal last year, but had made several trips in our RT camper van to CO, UT, ID, WY, and Canada. He asked if we knew of TAY and I said sure. He asked if we were was Zap and Jill! I asked him what his handle is on TAY, and it's Quick foot. It was really nice to meet folks that I 'know' from TAY but have never actually met. Nice to meet you Quick foot and congratulations on your recent retirement.
