Crystal - 12/29

Aaahhh what a different day makes….Some early rush, but not much, better vis and conditions from the start and partly cloudy at the worst all day, cold – a lot colder feeling than yesterday. Early groomers were perfect corduroy fast and sweet (but freezer burn head screamers). Went to Sunnyside to warm up, half inch or so new making everything look nice. PB looked good from below, so that was the Hamster run of the day! Cycled PB/BP’s more than a few times today both early and for an afternoon snack. No lift lines other than FQex (where the Patrol was again counting for the folks loading and doing a good job of it). No lines on REX or HC. Decided to visit a lift opp working the bottom pit of NW mid day! Me Oh My what was I thinking. Snow was nice, Colin was fun to ride with, but that chair ride from hell in the freezer of NW…Ouch! Cold. Suffered it twice before heading back to the sunny slopes of REX to warm up….happy again. Finished the day with PB/BP, Sunnyside and Upper and Lower E (wimpy lazy entrance to Upper E). All skied happy and nice, lots of bumps growing every where and some of them are getting nice and big! Rocks starting to pop out on top of HC (and a few other places), will be nasty by the end of the current sunny streak this next week or so.

Other – Soup of the day? No soup at CB lodge? Beef Stew – looked pretty good, but the lines for food at CB lodge were way past my hamster tolerance. Pay lot was massive again today and fairly full of widely spaced rows of cars (20 to 30 ft between rows?)….and the rest of the A lot was packed full with barely enough room to get out. B, C, D, E lots all completely full, some campers in F lot. Great day, great snow quality, great nice small lift lines in all the right places. All around a Big day, even though there was only a half inch new!

how many, ski to vehicle, parking spots available to the public?

hhhhmmmm Interesting question....there are some that folks would be pissed about me mentioning...but the most obvious are D and E lots....comming down Employee Housing be the main big ski to car trip - only 2k straight fall line run - thanks to a nice little avie....Negative in those lots is riding the Crystal cattle cars in the morning (or if you eat lunch in your car). Crystal probably does not have as many ski in and ski out as Alpy...
