Unlike last Friday, Crystal did a great job getting the resort up and running with a wall-to-wall opening (minus Northway) at 8:55. No early pass holder upload due to control work. Choosing CHEX instead of the longish gondie line, we were one of the first onto the front side. My oh my was the snow deep. In fact, my mid-width skis were a little challenged for the first couple runs. But, as it got skied, it turned into soft pillows of snow everywhere. What a day! Even though there were quite a lot of people, the lift lines were short with C6 line of 5 - 10 minutes being the longest. I'm sure Northway was longer when they opened around 1, but we didn't venture out that way as the lines at all the gates were fairly big. Favorite runs were Powder Bowl, Bear Pits, Doors, and Lucky Shot trees. The front side got a little sun impacted mid day. Yes, sun. The new storm track forecast to come in mid-day didn't materialize while we were there. Kudos to the lift op at the top of REX that was as fired up as the skiers all day.
On the way out, A, C, D lots full. B and E lots 3/4 full. Not sure where all those people were on the mountain.
With a lot more snow forecast through tomorrow, what a season!
