Alpental Opening Day

Announced 11:00am opening to accommodate the amount (and complexity given the unconsolidated nature of the current snow pack) of control work that the pros had to accomplish...

Mostly a local crowd, repeated closures on I-90 kept all but the most determined from getting to the lots. The usual suspects seemed to make it regardless however as there were still plenty of super regular non-loc faces with perma-grin to be seen.

The only line for the day were opening lines at both chairs, after that it was powder all day and ski right on...

Props need to be given to Alpy patrol, they worked extra hard in challenging conditions to get as much terrain opened, as quickly as possible. Given the amount of effort required to get the place rolling, they made the call to concentrate on getting the inside open, leaving Nash and adjacent terrain for later. Setting up forever rope line, the boundary for Snake Dance and Felson, was not a small task given the depth and nature of the snow.
