Woke up on a travel home day and skied all morning. It said 19 cm but I skied much deeper snow on Crossroads and Lower Franz's. Sometimes the lower mountain is where it's at when you know the top will be closed for a while. Went over to Garbanzo and opened Club 21 for the year. Unfortunately I had to shut it down early as it was skill lacking in enough depth to cover all the logs good enough. Went back up to Roundhouse and then skied upper and lower Franz's again in delicate fresh. The Temporary closure ropes had kept most out. Saw some young rippers hitting Upper Insanity hard for the first time in more than a year. Still a little lean for me...
Fell into a creek on Lower Franz's and took 10 minutes getting out! I had just landed a lazy jump turn in deep fresh and it just all went away. I ended up reclining on a shrinking foot of snow over a widely spaced log bridge. Quite exciting place
to check out. Must have been the headwaters of Whistler Creek! Temporary Closure huh? I guess they were right...
