After sunny bliss in Singing Pass Back Country, had a cloudy, snowy day of groomers along with the Blackcomb Glacier. Soft groomer tracks all morning on Dave Murray, Tokum, Ridge Runner, and others. Blackcomb glacier still held great snow with a good ski out. Went over to Seventh Heaven to kill time before lunch and (as my back had stopped hurting) drooped the steep Cougar Chutes for the first time this season. Had a great lunch with my wife at the remodeled and more expensive Christine's. When she jerked up and said someone was coming down that steep chute with trees in it, I didn't even look or react. She doesn't like me skiing Cougar Chutes. After crossing back to Whistler after lunch I did another Dave Murray/Tokum cruiser but this time walked a few steps over to a closed Fantastic to ski deep, light mid mountain, often trackless powder over grass rocks and creeks. With a whole lot of tail carving keeping the tips up - it made for a fun diversion before returning to groomers to finish the descent to the Valley. As I had afternoon chores to do, we only got another Roundhouse to Creekside run in. The snowmaking had been going on for days and the scene was surreal with 20 - 30' mounds of snow everywhere, and frozen goggles from the machines. It was perfect man made and was great fun to ski. Heavy snow in the hot tub. Might ski the Creekside Gondola a few runs in the morning...
