Aaaahhhh….really nice stormy windy nasty nukin snow falling kinda day I haven’t experienced since??? Went up this morning based on minimal info…no telemetry but Crystal is saying all the important lifts will be spinning…lots of warmish rain down low the last coupld of days and lots of maybe plaster it in snow at the top (or at least wind buffed smooth), could be really nice today…The real world today – snowing hard in the parking lot at 8:15, definitely breezy, all the buckets parked at the base (yee haa don’t have to suffer that dang First Tracks stuff, would have made you happy Scotsman). Noticed a line starting to form on CHex…ended up around 24 or so folks, all fast chomping snow sliders, filled up the first 4 or 5 chairs, pretty much the same situation over at FQex, frenzy skiing trying to track up everything in the FQ area…waiting waiting waiting for the winds to slow down and the upper mountain to open…sadly never happened…refunds (or some kind of bonus) for the folks that bought a day ticket…pass holders? Not a thing….all we got was just suffering nice lazy easy ever improving skiing….it was one of those days were you ski a line and next time around you couldn’t really tell were you had skied…combination of wind blowing and puking snow falling (sideways)…and the winds were very impressive up around the CB lodge. Snow quality up higher was improving all day, skiing lighter and faster and deeper. Down below the bottom of FQex the snow was not as pleasant when I left.
Other – Pay lot was massive sized today (huh????) and pretty empty when I left…rest of A lot was full with some unlucky overflow towards C lot. All the folks could have had the pleasure of parking closer if not for the no show pay folks (but thank you all that buy parking and don’t show up). No soup at CB lodge again today…actually no real food at all…and while I was being semi nice (huh?) and socializing in CB lodge getting colder and colder than I was outside, the wind kept howling outside and the snow kept filling in…Tomorrow will be pretty big if the winds actually slow down….it will be a really big crowd, it will be a really big frenzy, there will be a lot of grumpy folks and I will be there having a lot of really BIG fun…hopefully the Pass will open soon so life can return to normal at Crystal.
Other other – Just before Fed Forest the main power lines across the White river (Dead Mans curve?), that’s were the high water took out the power and tely lines, big crowd of power company folks working that problem today. Should be back to normal by tomorrow hopefully.
