Headed for Blackcomb today based on local recommendation of less weekend crowds than Whistler. Raining at the base, took the covered lift at 820. Snowing nicely on the Solar Coaster with no wind Got three 8" light powder runs there before the crowds started to expose slippery base. Moved over to Crystal for a couple 12" powder runs thanks to the continuing storm. Rising winds had me hankering to take peak to peak gondola over to Whistler in search of quieter runs. It was not operating, so I skied down and took the gondola to Whistler Village, planning to take the other gondola to Roundhouse. The line was way too long so I bailed and drove home. By 2pm it was snowing hard halfway to Squamish. The forecast is for 16" fresh tomorrow followed by 7" and 9" the next two days. Wow. Get up there if you can!

We went up Whistler in the AM and it was blowing hard up there and the lines were long for the Gondola and other chairs.  Due to getting a edge card and waiting in a jumbo line at guest services we didn't get on the snow until 10:30 after arriving in Whistler at 8am from Seattle.

Afternoon spent on Blackcomb with no lines, no wind but heavy bumps, hard on my 1st day riding knees.

Sunday awoke to 20 cms reported but it was tracked out in no time.  We had 10th chair on Crystal when it opened and barely found any untracked.  That line was enormous when we got down so bailed and rode solar coaster single and even the fixed triple to avoid lines.  Fun couple of days.  Found out about Sunday traffic leaving Whistler.  Lesson for future is move car to Creekside for easier exit on Sunday evening.  That was brutal so we waited it out in the bar before heading back in a comfortable 4hrs.

Sounds like you made the most of it but too bad about the traffic on Sunday afternoon. Who knows unless you go there lots but I recommend the Creekside lot for Sunday afternoon exits. On the other hand, I also recommend doing what you did and going home late. I also try to have everyone with me have their equipment and tickets all perfect the night before or ahead of time. WB is a huge area and handles crowds great but chick points like guest relations in early season or a gondola line on a powder day can be very maddening. When I get some
Time I think I'll write up some tips and recommendations for going up there.
