April, 21/2015 Whistler Weather Changes

Good Alpine Snow, cooler temperatures, clouds, and some showers characterized this transitional day. Lots of cornice failures probably from blasting. One good picture below. Patrol gave out a Considerable rating today because of no crust formation last night and old worries of potential step downs to old "persistent" layers. Right now the forecast is "low" for tomorrow even though there is new snow forecasted tonight. Must be a difficult snowpack they are looking at. With new snow I'm not sure how they will let us ski it, as the Peak Chair is the only Alpine lift open. I think I'll bring my gear and hope they let us out!

The picture below shows some blocks the size of a pickup truck! Interestingly enough, many of the "Park Rats" continued to traverse over to their new set up right thru the debris and right under the cornices that failed. They did this all day long to avoid a 4 minute line on the T - Bar...

is patrol cool with touring out in the harmony and symphony zones now that they're closed?

Cool today but terrible off piste frozen chunks and tracks. They groomed Harmony Piste and GS and the road back to emerald. That was cool of them and made the run skiable powder
