Skied the Palmer and got a general look at the state of things. The good news is that the Palmer snowfield is in good shape, and looks like it will easily last the whole summer, FWIW. The bad news is, that's it for the good news.
Eyeballing the hogsback up to ~9200ft, I see a snow depth very similar to late July, early August. Rock ridges down the center that were just appearing last July are now fully there, covered by what looks like a few inches from the last storm.
Looking west of the Palmer, there looks like decent covereage, but further out looks thin. And this is the theme all the way down the Palmer/Mile chairline: near to the chairs on each side look decent but the further out you go the sketchier it gets. The "canyon" just by the Mile looks fully filled up and ought to last, but the canyon further east that heads straight to the parking lot is a 50-ft deep trench with sparse accumulations.
I saw plenty of climbers and heard no rockfall. If I had the energy (difficult when my lift pass is still valid), this looks like the optimum time to catch sidecountry and frontcountry shots.
