The high alpine is still holding up and hasn't started getting icy except on some solar aspects and old tracks. Except - as I found out - at the end of the day in the shade. Also, the entrances on the steeps are getting sharper, and the bumps bigger and harder. Boundary Bowl skied soft and nice almost all day, so I'm sure the Blackcomb Glacier was in good shape as well.
My steep skiing tips of the day are:
1 Five day old West Coast snow can quickly turn much harder at the end of the day in the shade.
2 It's not a good idea to adjust your new bindings without your glasses on.
3 The chalky steeps I talked about liking the other day are not as chalky on one ski when you have to climb down 50 feet of steeps to retrieve a premature release.
