Weird driving up to Crystal with it snowing below the blvd and snow on the road and then seeing Chinook Pass open. As ddk stated, vis on the very top was a challenge in the morning, but the snow was great. 3 - 4 inches over the groomed and up to a foot in places off groomed like the aforementioned West Face, Ann's Run, and also right side of Snorting Elk Bowl. I have to say, of all the days this year, the snow was in the top 3. By 11, the fog broke and we even had some short lived sun breaks. Then, 11:45, it started snowing, then snowing harder, then getting wetter (still snow) with the weather packing out all the nice snow. By 12:30, the nice snow was mostly done (although West Face was still skiing really nice).
You can all thank my wife for the new bright orange bra on the bra tree. She figured she'd sacrifice it the end of this season as an offering to the snow gods for next year.
Season pass holders, listen up. We paid for next year's passes at Guest Services this morning, then were informed they would be mailed to us sometime this summer. Huh? Turns out, Crystal is going to abandon their RFID gate system as they weren't getting good support from the vendor. They're going to a bar code system for next year. Huh? Isn't this going backwards? Couldn't they just put in a good system like Stevens Pass or Whistler? Anyway, they don't have any ability to print passes until the new system is installed. All those spring and summer benefits for buying a pass? You have to go to Guest Services every time. So, just buy your pass online and that way you'll at least get a confirmation number. All I have is my credit card receipt. Remember to do it by May 31 to get this year's pass holder discount. Oh, and after buying my new pass, my old pass no longer worked at the reader (even though Guest Services told me to continue to use it). Huh? Heard a rumor that the reader was acting up. Maybe. Won't it be fun to dig out your pass at all the gates to have it wanded?
