March 30, 2015 Timberline was created by Zap
On Sunday morning we were skiing spring snow at Anthony Lakes at 7000'. By 7pm we were parked along the Columbia River at Hood River. We love the Northwest. This is the first time this season that we have skied at a West Coast ski area. Unbelievable. We finally used our Timberline Powder Alliance Fusion Passes. The day began at 10am and we had to walk from the parking lot past the Lodge entrance to the Magic Mile lift. It has been 10 months since we last skied at Timberline. We've never seen as much of the rock terrain in the area. There are four trails from the top of the Mile to the base. The 3 terrain parks have good coverage until the lower quarter that was getting a bit thin approaching the Stormin' Norman lift. The Palmer and Magic Mile lifts were deserted and GS skiers had time to “let them go”. Sking from the top of Palmer to the base of Magic Mile was a time for grins and chortles. Jill looked at me and said “let them go”. On the Palmer run she left me behind. On the Magic Mile I finally let it go and relaxed and just flowed – it felt so good. The 3 lifts provided 3200' of great fun. After 3 hours it was getting slushy and heavy and it was time to leave. It was the perfect time to ski in the Northwest and was a very nice way to end our trip. ;)
