We got to Brighton early so we could park in front of the ticket office. It was sunny and we made a leisurely breakfast. We waited for the sun to warm the slopes off the Milly Express lift. At 10am we felt the snow was getting soft. The office folks know us by now after all the years we've been here. We rode the Crest Express to get to the trail to Milly. After you get off Milly you ski the ridge or around the top to arrive at the sun baked slopes. By 10:30am the upper third was still solid “ice”. There was no easy way down to the bottom 2/3rds which was fantastic spring snow. We decided to go back and ski Crest and Snake Creek Express lifts. The Great Western Express did not get much softening due to the lack of direct sun for most of the morning. Where the sun hit it was another spring day with good coverage. Our drive to and from the ski area was unique. With the low snow year we saw all the homes, huts and lodges along the road. During all of our previous trips the snow banks were so high we couldn't see these places and covered other areas that we were surprised to see. We rode with a couple of locals who said the coverage was half the normal. For us it was another nice springy day.
