Today was pretty much ditto of yesterdays report - And todays version: Withdrawal symptoms kicked in faster than expected…forecasts said today was it or nothing….So I was in the front of the very empty parking lot (almost small enough pay lot) at 8:30. Jumped into the third bucket (first crammed full, next pretty full, lots of space in the third). Looking at the parking lot as we went up….one short row of cars in the Pay lot and the same in the free lot ( might have been the same when I left at 2:30?).
Typical day based on recent history. Great groomers in the Valley, lots of sun, way to warm early meant today was a full on day at the beach. Perfect soft ElkSnort and anything else groomed all the way over to West Face….but a lot of fun packed bumps on the shady slopes in-between. By 9:30 sunny slopes were getting nice…and were pretty primo by late morning. No lift lines actually – though I grumped about the one chair waits, had to (got to) ride with a wide variety of folks – all acted like it was a pretty big great fun nice happy day?? Bumps on Grubstake got better and better all day. North facing slopes got just nice and carveable. Ann’s run around noon was the perfect soft back lit big bump tree dodging run…heard a few folks on the lift noticed. Pretty much a fun day for the Hamster from the start to almost the last lift ride (kinda early). Got a lot of fun runs with the lift opps during their breaks today – THANKS! Crystal folks checking the bottom line were probably not happy again today.
Other – Soup? No soup today (for anyone). Heard a rumor that CB lodge might be down for the season. Top high brow restaurant shut down before the lifts did. A lot when I left was sadly not very full – maybe not even half full. Fun day skiing the big (sorry the b word) soft bumps and the screamer fast perfect groomers early. Most of the folks I saw were just the hard core wacks that can have fun on almost any day….me included!
